Originally released in 2018, the Dyson Airwrap made its way to stores and blew out all other hair tools competition. The product has had new attachments added over the years.
The Dyson Air wrap has an average of 4.6 out of 5 stars with over 40,000 reviews on the Dyson website. When it was first released, the Dyson sold for $549.99. Due to inflation, it has increased 9% to $599.99.
How the Dyson can be used
The Dyson Airwrap comes with 7 attachments to style your hair with, along with the base wand the attachments go on. It also comes with a box that fits everything inside. It has 2 curling barrels, 2 smoothing brushes (soft and hard), a dryer / flyaway attachment, and a detangling comb.
The curling barrels have different widths on each of them to make your curls more spiral or wavy. One has a 1.6 inch barrel while the smaller one is a 1.2 inch barrel. The soft smoothing brush helps finer hair control and smooth it out while the firm smoothing hair bristles and smoothens out thicker, curlier hair. The volumizing brush dries the hair and creates that flowy, blowout look. The dryer / flyaway styler helps with wet to straight styling and keeping the flyaways away!
Is Dyson’s pricing worth it?
While many people invest their time and money to save up and buy a Dyson Airwrap, is it even worth it to save up for it?
A lot of hairspray is needed to get the curls from the curling barrels to hold. Although, they add a nice touch and give that blowout look. The round volumizing brush dries hair quickly and makes hair silky and soft. It is definitely a better alternative to Revlon’s One Step Hair Dryer.
The smoothing brushes have issues working on thick hair, whereas it works on thinner and fine hair. So take that into accountability when choosing to purchase. The flyaways smoother doesn’t also particularly work on thick hair, besides blow hot air on your head.
While the Dyson does have some great tools and pieces to use, it has many complications towards thicker hair. So, if you’re someone with thicker hair and have more to work with, take into account not all of the pieces might work with your style.
Dyson Airwrap caters to thinner hair
Luka Kulvicas is a junior at Colonia High School who owns a Dyson Airwrap. Her hair is considerably thinner compared to others. “I love my Dyson,” Kulvicas informs, “I definitely do recommend the Dyson to other users who have somewhat thinner hair. I’ve seen with some of my friends that thicker hair doesn’t work as well.”
So yes, if you have thinner hair and are thinking of buying a Dyson Air wrap, it’s worth it. But, if your hair is thicker and coarse, look for some other hair options to splurge money on. It seems this product only caters to one type of hair.
